What is Quick Search?
Typinator's advanced Quick Search feature helps you quickly find and use expansions and abbreviations without manually browsing your collections. It is especially ideal when you need to insert an expansion on the spot or can’t recall the exact abbreviation.
Step-by-step guide to Typinator Quick Search:
- Set up the Quick Search shortcut
- Open Typinator by clicking on its icon in the menu bar.
- Go to Settings and select the Activation tab.
- You can make your shortcut to launch Quick Search here. The default shortcut is ⌃ Control + ⌘ Command + S, but you can customize it by clicking the shortcut field and pressing your preferred key combination.
- Open the Quick Search window
- Once your shortcut is configured, press it anytime to launch the Quick Search window.
- The search window will appear, ready for you to start typing.
- Search for an expansion or abbreviation
- Type part of the expansion text, a keyword, or the abbreviation itself.
- Typinator will automatically filter results, displaying matches from all your collections.
- Insert the expansion
- Highlight the desired result using your mouse or arrow keys.
- Press Enter or click once with the mouse, and your abbreviation will be inserted directly at the position of your cursor.
