Using Wingdings fonts and Wingdings symbols
Origin of Wingdings fonts
The origin of Wingdings fonts goes back to the nineties when Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes designed these fonts as a complement of the already developed font Lucida. Later on the original Wingdings font was taken over by Microsoft and it is a standard font on all Microsoft word applications nowadays.
Wingdings fonts are TrueType fonts and come with different versions: the original Wingdings font, Wingdings2, Wingdings3 and Webdings.
Use of Wingdings symbols
Wingdings fonts show pictures, images and symbols instead of letters and are widely used to type frequently used symbols such as smilies ☺, arrows ←↑, the telephone symbol ✆, and many others.
But, what's the purpose of Wingdings symbols and why should we use them? Using Wingdings symbols simply vitalizes your website and documents.
